IPP - Improved Piping Products, Inc,
was founded in 1979 as a California corporation and is a privately held
family business.
At the outset, IPP entered the pipe flange business with a rib-reinforced, epoxy coated convoluted aluminum flange designed for the thermoplastic piping industry. It was manufactured in the USA and sold to distributors on the North American Continent. However, in time, these aluminum flanges were replaced with a more economical ductile iron convoluted flange which was able to withstand more easily the rough handling inherent in the installation process. This version was patented in the USA and in Canada by a German inventor, a close friend of the founders. These flanges were produced for IPP by USA and Canadian foundries under license.
Demanding environmental pollution control requirements in our homeland caused US foundries to either shift their production to offshore locations or face plant closures altogether. By the very nature of being a cheap commodity, pipe flanges had encountered a production shift away from the North American Continent and thus caused IPP to also shift its focus of production to offshore countries such as Korea, Taiwan and in time, China.
Ensuing quality control problems forced IPP's management to establish its own production and inspection facility in Mainland China which resulted in founding Improved Piping Products Ltd.-Shanghai, a wholly owned foreign corporation, and daughter company of Improved Piping Products International Ltd.
Over the years, sales grew as did IPP's product line in terms of flange sizes, types of materials and a wider range of pressure ratings. Customer demand brought on additional distribution points in order to serve their needs on a more timely basis. Currently, IPP has five distribution centers located in California, Missouri, Texas, Florida and New Jersey.
Thanks to our dedicated employees and a tremendous vote of confidence from our customers, IPP celebrated its 26th anniversary in July 2005.
IPP is pleased to have received its second generation patent on convoluted flange structures which are now being marketed under the label IPP DELTAFLEX® flanges.
We will continue to innovate and develop safe, functional and cost-effective pipe joints to National and International Pipe Flange Standards for the world piping market.
IPPI Europe GmbH, located at Schaffhausen, Switzerland started it’s activities in 1998,
offering Ductile Iron (epoxy coated, DF2DI) as well as Polypropylene encapsulated (PPDA) flanges on European plastic piping market. Our European customers are serviced from a central warehouse at Hamburg, Germany. European sales activities show permanent increase and we are proud that our customers are well known in European plastic piping family.
